The Marchesa Mahjong Society offers two membership options designed to fit your schedule. Please select the Society that best fits your lifestyle, as your membership will remain with that Society throughout the membership year.

🀄 Exclusive Monthly Events

Members enjoy one exclusive Society event each month throughout the membership year. Gatherings are thoughtfully curated and hosted at some of Houston's most charming boutiques, hotels, galleries, restaurants, and other unique venues.

Each event offers a unique experience—from open play and themed Mahjong nights to Chinese Mahjong workshops, scoring classes, private shopping events, and other one-of-a-kind gatherings designed exclusively for Society members.

Many of our venue partners also offer food and beverages for purchase, creating the perfect opportunity to enjoy a meal, cocktail, or glass of wine while playing Mahjong and connecting with fellow members.

Each membership includes two guest passes per membership year, so you can introduce friends to the Marchesa Mahjong Society.

Stay connected between events through our private member community, where members share Mahjong tips, celebrate wins, receive Society updates, and connect year-round.

⏰ Early Bird Access
Members receive priority access to register for select Marchesa Mahjong events before registration opens to the public.

Annual membership is $420 (just $35 per month), giving you a full year of thoughtfully curated experiences, meaningful connections, and exclusive access to the Marchesa Mahjong Society.

Membership Policies

To ensure the best experience for all members, please review the following before applying:

  • Application Review: Membership is limited, and applications are reviewed in the order received. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance.

  • Non-Refundable Dues: Annual membership dues are $420 and are non-refundable.

  • Society Selection: Members must select either the Daytime Society or Evening Society for the duration of the membership year. Membership may not be transferred between Societies, and members may not attend events hosted by the other Society, regardless of scheduling conflicts.

  • Skill Level Requirement: The Marchesa Mahjong Society is designed for intermediate and advanced American Mahjong players. Beginners are encouraged to enroll in lessons before applying.

  • Code of Conduct: Members are expected to foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive community while demonstrating kindness and good sportsmanship at all Society events.

  • Event Capacity & Waitlists: We make every effort to host events that provide opportunities for all members to attend. Because many of our gatherings take place in intimate venues, capacity may occasionally be limited and waitlists may occur. If an event reaches capacity, members will be added to a waitlist and notified if a spot becomes available.

  • RSVP Commitment: As guests of our venue partners, we strive to ensure every event is full and successful. If you RSVP, we kindly ask that you do so with the intention of attending. Should your plans change, please cancel as early as possible so another member can enjoy the opportunity. We understand that emergencies and unexpected circumstances arise, but out of respect for our venue partners and fellow members, we ask that you RSVP only when you are confident you can attend and honor that commitment.

  • Membership Revocation: Marchesa Mahjong reserves the right to revoke or decline renewal of any membership if a member repeatedly fails to honor RSVPs, behaves in a manner inconsistent with the Society's Code of Conduct, or otherwise disrupts the experience of fellow members.
